Finding I Love You

Finding I Love You

I’ve been searching for the words many seek.
Much died for it, others shattered them weak.
While others said it’s the sweetest, others just weep.
Half of the world dreaded, half celebrated it.

I’ve been searching for the last ingredient.
That may give mine the perfect taste.
Coz I don’t know what was lacking.
Why mine is too hard for finding.

I had found many of it, but mine is lost.
I never heard the one I envied most.

Let’s start with the first, just when my heart first loved.
The man I thought who would color my world lush.
At first, the paradise we’ve built filled me joy.
When he said those words with a smile so buoy.
Because he sounds the perfect ode,
And I have his trust and his love to hold.
But just when things fell on their perfect lay.
Destiny danced the steps which he paid.
With the burden he carried and the lies he hid,
His ‘I Love You’ sounded a bitter ear indeed.
After the night when love sealed its final kiss,
I remembered him saying “Call me Chris.”

It’s long before I found the second,
Dressed in white, pure, sincere and toned.
He’s with me in times of anger and bliss.
And he gave me all but never a kiss.
He treated me special, more than a friend can ask.
Laughed with me and sometimes kicked me in the ass!
There’s no dull moment with this carefree guy.
He had the power to turn a truth from a lie.
But every heart has its secrets to unfold.
With these I found the reason why he came cold.
‘I can’t love you eventhough I want to’ said he.
And the truth dawned from his eyes, tired as ever be.
Before goodbye he said his ‘I Love You’.
Sweet it may sound but tears made it sour.
Yes, you wonder who might be this man.
Well, he called himself Gian.

Friends as it seemed after the first acquaintance.
With this sweet young boy from a long ‘rail’ distance,
I met him with those eyes that saw me through my soul.
And he’s always there to answer my call.
We shared memories and laughter to cherish.
We always had goodnight kisses on the cheeks.
We shared cigarettes and tossed glass of vodka.
And warm each other with tight hugs o’ loca.
He would always whisper his ‘I Love You’
And would wait for me to shiver and say that too.
He says I’m special, and he wants me,
Everytime he leans on my shoulder, or lay on my knee.
I watched him asleep on the pillows we both had.
Wishing that somehow, love was all we shared.
Because everytime he’s with me I wished we’re lovers.
That on his part he’ll learn to love me more than just friends.
With his ‘I Love You’ he became one of my favorite names.
Especially at the time he held his hand and said, ‘I am James’.

It’s a gamble; you may say when I first took the trick.
When I laid all my aces left me drained and weak.
Taking the bet and allowing all the risks.
Just to ease the pain of my heart from agony’s sick.
Just at the time I’m fixing that broken, fallen part of me.
I met a childish him, so modest so carefree.
I can play the game I thought I’ve mastered.
So I did my best to let him fall on my maze.
To be whole, I shattered and picked his innocence.
He withdrew all ‘coz I deceived him with my pretense.
But see what a fool I’ve been.
I fell into the pit of my own game.
Coz his affections bound me restless.
I had loved him more than anyone else.
We shared true love that started from lies.
Had moments of joy that lingered ‘till my heart dies.
He had his ‘I Love You’ sealed with every kiss.
It tasted sweet for a moment of hiss.
But time and distance shaded the lies.
I found out that he had me just for an experience of a kind.
Guilty have I been, and the pain is real.
When the love we made shattered into my worst dream.
Oh! How will I ever forget his childish grin?
And the way he said ‘‘I Love You’ it’s me, Kim.

I’m tired and I had lost hopes.
Searching for the words in any slope:
Maybe I’m not destined to be loved.
Or maybe I am destined to just love.
Life is both fair and unfair.
It’s just that I’m unlucky but I cannot wail.
I don’t know what is wrong,
Just as sure as they don’t know what is right.
Maybe I’ve been searching too long.
Or that he’s been hiding too tight.
I’ve tasted it from different lips.
But there is this one thing I have missed.
Where is the final touch for it to be perfect?
When can I say I love you back in its truest affect?

Then it came when things got tough.
He just declared his love, isn’t that silly enough?
He said his ‘I Love You’ before I knew his name.
Of course I laughed with this ridiculous shame.
I never thought I’d fall.
Into the midst of this unwanted call.
He let me feel that love can come unexpectedly.
And made me understood that he truly loves me.
He made me laughed on my worries.
And he loved me more when I shed tears.
At first I’d never believe.
How a stranger in one’s heart could live.
He wired distance for us to cross.
And he told me that I am his other half lost.
He had the breeze to carry me his kiss.
And had his smooth voice lulled me to sleep.
He laughs with my senseless jokes.
And he had everything from me to note.
He gives me preaching words when I’m drunk.
And caressing words when I dropped drunk!
But he never forgets to declare his love.
Everytime I said sorry and beg him to laugh.
Oh how lucky has I been.
To have someone whose love is undying.

‘I Love You’ he said.
‘What’s your name?’ I asked.
I heard him laughed, the sweetest song I’ve heard.
Then it dawned on me the moment he replied.
That with all the ‘I Love Yous’ I’d found.
They just told me to utter the sound.
They gave their names for me to just say.
As if it is the only best way.
Never had they let me give them names.
That’s why they never became mine.
That’s why their ‘I Love Yous’ are not mine.
I smiled for I found it sweet.
To hear those words from a stranger’s lips:
My heart beats with a joyful rhyme.
Coz at last I’ve found my perfect line.
The words I’ve been searching for.
It has been with me all this time.
I heard him said his name, his voice long been gone.
But the resounding hums of his heart loud and hard.
It came in sync with my ever wounded heart.
My heart knew it all along.
That through all these years I’ve never been alone,
He’s with me, just waiting to be called.
Deep within me in the place I walled.
He’s waiting for my voice to shout out his name.
He hears it clear only when my heart knows no more pain.
My love for him is pure and true.
Coz finally I’d found my ‘I Love You’
‘Mark’ me love that forever will flow.
With thee I bowed low.
‘I’ named him ‘ui ko’
